These abandoned, deracinated streets, in Toxteth, bear horrifc witness to the rape that was the aborted “Pathfinder” scheme; painteIMG_6423.JPGd (intentionally/ironically??) in matt black; beautiful in a derelict fashion; but these were peoples’ lives

    1. Thx Wolfin:) I thought the black was some sociological comment on the crass imposition, then abandonment, of the Pathfinder scheme, leaving the houses in mourning for those who had dwelt there! That is what Corbyn offers: a chance for people of all disadvantaged “groupings” to get equal treatment and justice,so that what amounts to “cleansing” of some environments NEVER happens again! xx Steve

  1. I was shocked and bewildered the first time I saw this street painted in black. A few years later I realised why they had been painted this way: for the (excellent) BBC series Peaky Blinders. There’s something in the streets being used for a racy and thrilling series about a gangster family from after the First World War and what it did to men. Can’t quite put it in words right now, but it’s quite postmodern. Thanks for posting all these wonderful images.
