“The(Half)Illuminated cafe”:stream of consciousness poem

A hanging -basket

Glimpsed

Orange flowers..

Mum..

She liked

Flowers, AND

Hanging-baskets

Adorned

Her porch

Quaintly….

A headache;

An occasional

Nerve pain

Toothache..

ANXIETY

Controlled

(Trying to)……….

………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Cosiness

And safety

Resumed

In my

Geography

In the

(Half)

Illuminated cafe

{to be RE-illuminated}

  1. I like the picture you’ve created of the flowers at the cafe and the flowers your mum hung in baskets on her porch. Your mum is a comforting presence, and there you are safe in the cafe that is a second home. Thanks, Steve, for this comforting poem. Love, Merry

  2. thanks, as ever, Merry. yes, it IS a second home; i do not think i could cope as well if i didnt go there most mornings; and mum’s spirit is always guarding me:)You should have seen her garden; it was crazy in a riotously beautiful way; even a birdhouse, where she fed the birds; my dad still keeps it lovingly. Take care. speak soon. Steve
