NEVER NEVER RECORDS

An apt farewell to the Biennial, a facsimile of a vinyl record shop of yore; again, in the theme of this year’s Biennial, being in a deserted building, the idea “empty no longer”; but the irony is it WILL be empty again from Monday and it never WAS a record store(sorry-perhaps that is the point!). It was fairly evocative- an old bar, complete(still)with tills and dancefloor, but in semi darkness but for these half-empty racks of vinyl records. Didnt REALLY

remind me of vinyl shops of old; more like an art installation……!

I think the idea of temporarily re-using old buidings was a great one though ; and , of course, is apt to the main theme of this blog, but actually ADDS to the theme: it re-uses decay and abandonment, but only short-term.The most evocative of all was the “Wolstenholme{Square}Creative Art Space”, as in my earlier pictures; and parts of the slightly Lewis’s-esque fairly recently abandoned original “Rapid” store in Renshaw Street(with some of its original signage in situ)
