ESPRESSO EPIPHANIES(CONTINUED):POSITIVE

It doesnt HAVE to be night-time

There are good things in the now

And in the daytime.

NEXT year I SHALL go

There

To that special, magical place.

Not Grasmere

Not there-

I can’t go there again-

But to Laurieston.

Forever-in vertical time

  1. A man who doesn’t stand up straight went to the dentist for the first time in two years.
Anxious and tense, waiting in the queue, waiting for the dentist to do what dentists do, patronise and smile, he was worse dressed than the other waiters but they were all waiting some had problems worse than others some were descended from Armenians who had survived the massacre others had relatives who irritated them and some had weak chins or dull jobs some thought too much or too little some thought about their problems too much or ignored them too much or blamed others too much or blamed themselves too much or ate too much or ate too little some were tough some were brittle some were separate some were together some enjoyed darts some liked Baudelaire but they all had somewhere to sleep and at least one friend in the world so they were quite lucky in some respects until they saw the dentist who may not exist any way and if the dentist did exist he/she/it might not be so bad religion may be intellectual death but forgiveness is secular and separate or together men and women are social animals albeit of a type affected by the disease of competition smile and clean your teeth like you mean it the dentist said

  2. I take it that you have been to the dentist, John; or was that PURELY metaphorical:)!!:):)]It was certainly a magnificent piece of stream-of-consciousness writing, though I think we are a mixture of positive and negative{though I know you know this!:)}.

Anyway it was a helpful response to my negative, then more positive, espresso-induced thoughts.

P.S Liked the Beaudelaire reference-just thrown in there so casually
